For Duravit, sieger design has developed D-CODE – a complete bathroom range in an attractive entry-level price segment
Developed for Duravit by sieger design, D-CODE is a complete bathroom range that combines clean, unpretentious design with versatile elements that can be flexibly mixed and matched to suit any space. It’s affordably priced for budget-conscious customers – and is ideal for both domestic homes and commercial projects. Striking, precisely defined ceramic elements and a coordinated range of furniture finishes set the collection apart. Aesthetically, it’s modelled on the original range of the same name, which after more than 15 years has now been given a contemporary makeover.
“The D-CODE range offers clear-cut, premium design and high manufacturing quality to a broad customer segment,” explains designer Michael Sieger. The original 2007 range has been updated to give it a far more precise, refined look – one that’s “exceptional for the entry-level price segment”. D-CODE can be integrated into any space and bathroom concept, while also having a highly distinctive identity that’s evident right across the range. The washbasins in the new collection feature characteristic rounded front corners and precisely aligned inner and outer edges. sieger design has applied this design principle, subtly yet consistently, to all other ceramic elements, such as the semi-recessed version of the basin. Each sink has a large basin and a landing space behind the tap for additional storage, which are highly convenient for users.
When sieger design created the original range more than 15 years ago, furniture wasn’t yet a key criterion when choosing a bathroom collection. But today, it’s a crucial element in all price segments – and so D-CODE includes washstands, tall and mirrored cabinets with LED lighting and other complementary furniture units. In the washstands, the minimal gap between the ceramic basin and the vanity unit underneath is illustrative of the refinements that have been made compared with the original range – highlighting how Duravit and sieger design have pushed the limits of what’s possible when creating a new entry-level collection.
D-CODE comes in a range of modern, easy-care wood and colour finishes. As well as standard finishes such as gloss or matt white, graphite and taupe, there are also two new green shades, which were carefully chosen to achieve the same level of timelessness. Another unusual feature given the price segment is the selection of handles in classic chrome and a new matt finish, Diamond Black. The handles match the discreet style of the D-CODE units while still adding a striking flourish – an effect that’s especially marked with the black handles.
All elements in the D-CODE range are chosen from a clearly defined list of materials and finishes, can be easily mixed and matched and are available in various sizes, which simplifies planning and tender processes. The ceramic elements come in a wide range of different versions, including a selection of WC models – which have been given a significant design update since the original collection and are now fitted with Duravit Rimless® technology – and rectangular acrylic inset baths. As a result, the collection can accommodate any country-specific requirements.
The understated, timeless design language makes D-CODE ideal for larger-scale projects – from hotels to public buildings to residential developments – that not only have to operate under tight budgets but are planned with long-term use in mind.
